KVADRAT (SA-6, GAINFUL) Anti-Aircraft Missile System

Range
of modernization comprises the following:
- Modernization of the 1S91M2 surveillance and tracking
station
- Modernization of the 2P25M2 self-propelled launcher
Range of 1S91M2 modernization:
- Installation of the Target Identification System SIC 11
operating in the MARK XII standard. The SIC 11 System is
equipped with the AN/TPX-56 Interrogator, which operates in
the modes: MOD1, MOD2, MOD3/A, MOD C and MOD 4. The System
clearly classifies the plane as "friend" or
"foe", at the same time providing the operator with
the target distance and azimuth data.
- Installation of the long-range thermal camera.
- Replacement of the KT53-2 television camera and the WPU-44
indicator with a modern CCD camera with a zoom lens and LCD
display.
- Replacement of TWT tubes in receiving systems with
semiconductor amplifiers with low signal-to-noise ratio.
- Replacement of the Moving Target Indicator systems
constructed on the basis of storage tubes with digital
semiconductor system of large scale of integration.
- Replacement of energy-consuming tube power supply units
voltage up to 300V with modern semiconductor power suppliers
furnished with protection system against short-circuit.
- Installation of a dehumidifying system in order to store the
equipment for a long time and to limit failure frequency due
to various atmospheric conditions.
In 1999 WZU Nr 2 was granted the
DEFENDER
Award at the International Salon of Defense Industry for the
modernization of the 1S91M2-P1 Surveillance and Tracking Station
of the 2K12 KVADRAT (SA-6) Anti-Aircraft Missile System
Range
of the 2P25M2 launcher modernization:
- Replacement of the 1A18M1 electromechanical and mechanical
scaler with a digital computer-controlled scaler.
- Replacement of electromechanical and mechanical interface
units with the scaler in azimuth, angle and distance with a
semiconductor system of large scale of integration.
- Replacement of the synchronous communication system with a
semiconductor system of large scale of integration.
- Replacement of the 19SBM1 autonomous control unit with
simplified control function unit.
- Replacement of tube gain/amplifiers of azimuth and elevation
amplidynes with semiconductor amplifiers.
- Replacement of the 12SM power supplier with a modern
semiconductor power supplier furnished with protection system
against short-circuit.
- Replacement of the TWT traveling wave tube with a
semiconductor low-noise amplifier.
