The
main purpose of upgrade is to separate a channel from the system
as an independent long-range missile unit capable to act
independently; improvement of command efficiency, improved fire
control and combat group co-operation; improvement of operational,
economic and operating properties.
The effect of upgrade is full autonomy of combat
groups operations, improvement of tactical and technical
parameters, miniaturization of the units, increased degree of
automation of the combat group operations, enhanced reliability of
the equipment, increased efficiency and better working conditions
for operators, lower energy consumption of the system, elimination
of approximately 5000 running meters of structural cabling, and
limited scope of required technical service.
Full
overhaul comprises the following elements of the S-200WE:
- Distribution cabin K22M and a field
generation 5Je97,
- Transport trailers P1, P2, P3, P4 of the K1W
Cabin equipment,
- Subsets of cables: 5Je55W-G and 5Je55W-A,B.
Limited overhaul for modernization applies to:
- K1W Cabin – overhaul of 95% original
assemblage,
- K2W Cabin – overhaul of 20% original
assemblage,
- K3W Cabin – overhaul of 90% original
assemblage,
- Control Tower K7 – overhaul of 90% original
assemblage.
Following the overhaul and autonomous check, the
above units of the S-200WE system undergo modernization, as the
result of which a modern and independent S-200C system is
achieved.
As the fundamental aim of modernization is full
independence of the firing channels and taking over the command
function by the K2 Cabin, the following elements were eliminated
from the system:
- K9M Command Cabin,
- K21M Power Distribution Cabin,
- Subset of cables 5Je 55W-D,
- Subset of cables 5Je 55W-E.
In 2002 WZU Nr 2 was

System.
Furthermore, WZU Nr 2 was
granted a distinction by the Minister of National Defense for the
modernization of the S-200WE Long-range Anti-Aircraft Missile
System at the X International Salon of Defense Industry.
